Extension of submission deadlines for the Degrowth Conference 2014

Schreibe einen Kommentar

We would like to announce the extension of the deadlines for the submission of papers, contributions and stirring papers for the Fourth International Degrowth-Conference in Leipzig, September 2-6, 2014. The Degrowth Conference questions the importance of growth for economic policy and seeks to promote social and sustainable alternatives.

To do justice to the diversity of the discourses concerning degrowth, we have chosen a variety of formats: On the one hand there will be scientific sessions, workshops and panels, on the other hand we will have open interactive formats such as open space as well as different cultural contributions. In a special format, the Group Assembly Process, scientists, practitioners, artists and activists will cooperatively work together during the three main days of the conference to develop concrete proposals for a degrowth society.

Call for Papers

The submission deadline for scientific core session papers, short papers and poster sessions has been extended to the 28th of February 2014. However, please submit your papers for special sessions until 31st of January 2014.

Call for Stirring Papers for the Group Assembly Process (GAP)

We have also extended the submission deadline for stirring papers to the 28th of February 2014.

The GAP concerns all the participating groups: scientists, activists, practitioners, artists, etc. and is designed to generate specific proposals for a degrowth society. It is meant to link different approaches to degrowth and create a space where people work on specific topics in small working groups. These groups will generate concrete proposal after an output-oriented three day working process.

Stirring papers are introductory papers for working groups of the GAP. They should be aimed at introducing new proposals or debates for a certain aspect of degrowth as well as stirring discussions that are also relevant to non-scientists. A stirring paper should summarize the discussions and key arguments of the issues raised. It can be polemic, but should also be easily understandable and well structured. It should have 1000 to 1500 words.

It is also possible to join a working group as a discussing member. If you want to do so, please mark your general interest in joining the GAP in the online registration which will be open in April 2014.

-> For more information on stirring papers and the GAP, go to http://leipzig.degrowth.org/en/gap/

-> Please submit your stirring paper via email to gap@degrowth.de until February 28th.

Join the Stream towards Degrowth!

We also invite you to participate in the Stream towards Degrowth. This project informs about events and debates in the run-up to the conference. Stakeholders from the degrowth community have their say and their events regarding degrowth and are announced on the conference’s media and on the blog “Postwachstum”.
