Living and experiencing Degrowth in Hungary

25.07.2026 12:00 - 12.08.2026 12:00 | Zsámbok (Hungary)

Cargonomia, a degrowth cooperative in Hungary, has officially become a certified European Solidarity Corps Host and Lead Organisation. After more than 11 years of community-supported agriculture, cargo-bike logistics, agroecology, eco-construction camps, food processing, workshops, traineeships, low-tech experimentation, and many collective adventures between Budapest and Zsámbok, Cargonomia is opening a new chapter: This summer, in cooperation with Szatyor Egyesület, they will host their first ESC volunteering team together with their organic farm partner, Zsámboki Biokert, where the project activities will take place:

  • 25 July – 12 August 2026
  • 15 volunteers
  • camping in tents, community cooking, collective life

Together you will explore:

  • eco-construction and adobe renovation,
  • agroecology and permaculture,
  • food processing and preservation,
  • low-tech practical solutions,
  • explore degrowth,
  • and the everyday practice of conviviality and solidarity.

It is an invitation to live, work, learn, discuss, cook, sweat, build and reflect together around very concrete questions:

  • How can we inhabit territories differently?
  • How can we relocalise food systems and practical knowledge?
  • How can we create meaningful and joyful forms of collective life in times of ecological and social crises?
