Caring Communities for Radical Change
The restless expansion of our economies is causing unprecedented crises and threatening our very existence. How do we confront the contradictions between endless economic growth and the ecological boundaries of our planet? What kind of society would ensure a good life for all, without wealth and power being hoarded by the few? How can we enable a just transition that halts over-ex-traction, over-production and over-consumption?
These and more questions will be addressed at the 8th International Degrowth Conference in The Hague this year.
With the overall theme, „Caring Communities for Radical Change“, the organisers highlight that care – through solidarity and justice – is central to degrowth as a collective project promoting sustainable, decolonial, feminist and post-capitalist modes of flourishing.
This call is an invitation to build bridges between social movements, art, research and other practices, bringing together a range of different perspectives and actors. Together, we can create system change!
The Call for Participation is open now until the 15th March. Proposals for artistic, activist and academic contributions are very welcome and can be submitted here.
More information about the conference can be found on the organiser’s website.
